Emmett Till was an african american who was born in Chicago. He went to visit his uncle who lived in Mississippi and eight days after he had gotten there he was found dead.

Emmett Till was lynched (murdered) because he went into a grocery store to buy some bubble gum and while he was walking out he whistled at the store owner's wife. Because of this four days later the owner and his half brother came to where Emmett Till was staying and they dragged him out of the house and then drove around with him in their car tortured him beat him and later killed him.
What Happened To The Men Who Murdered EmmettThe men were given an all white jury. The Jury only took 67 minutes to discuss and finalize the case and they ended up acquitting the two men who killed Emmett.

Emmett Till was killed by two men named Roy Bryant and J.W Miliam. Roy Bryant was the owner of "Bryant's Grocery And Meat Market" where Emmett Till had went to go buy bubble gum and he supposedly whistled at a white woman which just so happened to be Roy Bryant's wife.
National ReactionThe national reaction after Emmett's murder was huge. After Emmett's murder the whole country really started to see just how bad african americans were being treated and it really helped give momentum to the civil right movement.
